PHSC and PAC meet put off

KATHMANDU, SEP 26 -
The meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Legislature-Parliament was postponed on Friday.
According to PAC Chairman Janardan Sharma, the meeting was put off
after approving a condolence resolution over the death of former central
committee member of the Nepali Congress and former minister, Siddharaj
Ojha.
Today's meeting was scheduled to discuss on irregularities in All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
The PAC has been carrying out investigation into the ANFA's activities,
citing the budget received from the representatives of World Football
Federation was spent for personal use.
Similarly, the PAC is to carry out investigation citing people not
directly related to the sports sector have also gone to South Korea for
Asian Games (Asiad).
Lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada said that they are going to carry out investigation on the issue.
Similarly, a meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee
(PHSC) today was postponed without holding formal discussions.
The meeting was expected to conduct hearing on the nomination for
appointment of a new Chief Justice. The Constitutional Council on
September 12 recommended the Supreme Court senior most justice Ram Kumar
Prasad Shah as the future Chief Justice as incumbent CJ Damodar Prasad
Sharma is retiring on coming October 10.
Committee Chairperson Kul Bahadur Gurung announced the postponement of
the meeting citing technical reason until further notice, according to
Committee member Bhanubhakta Dhakal.
